Dear Dorene!   We had been a happy couple for half our lives when we decided to finally get married! For 15 years we spent a lot of time to dream about our special day. We never expected everything to be as perfect as it was.

The Wedding   We had a huge party for all our friends near the Lake of Constance in Switzerland, where we live. We drove through Switzerland, across the Alps and arrived at the lakes in Ticino. Our family and friends from Germany joined us there to spend a whole great week of vacation in the warm south that would end in the celebration of our wedding.

Our church, Santa Maria del Sasso is a very old church on a mountain, which you can only reach by a walk. From there there is an amazing view over the Lake of Lugano and all the green hills. When my bridesmaid and I where on our way to the church villagers stopped from working in their gardens to shout "Viva la sposa!" which means, "long live the bride" in Italian. It felt so unreal, like a scene in the movies.

I was wondering what Daniel would think of my wedding gown. A dear friend took 4 month to custom sew my gown and it was quite extraordinary. The skirt is made In a very traditional style, and the corset is made like they did it in the 1940s as seen in Paris.

We used Swiss Luxury Guipure embroidery by Jakob Schläpfer. It was the wedding gown of my dreams, and I did not want a long bridal veil to cover it. I wear my hair in a bob length so I was so glad to get my French birdcage veil with this gorgeous comb that perfectly completed my look all day. When we met at the entrance of the church, I knew he loved how I looked and he looked the best ever!

It was a beautiful hot day and we celebrated our reception in the garden of an old ticino villa until late night. When I woke up the next morning, I still had the pins that fixed my veil in my hair, I did not even notice them.   To us a wedding is not only a special day for the couple to share their love, but also something precious to share with all the beloved ones in family and friends.   Thanks for making me such a beautiful vintage bride!     Lara
