From Laura
Wedding Planning to me has to be the most exciting eventful, learning experience I have encountered. More importantly I feel like it brought me closer than ever with family, friends and with my DH. When in your life are you ever going to have a celebration like this where all of your dearest friends, family co-workers all come together to have a great time. A wedding!!!

The planning:
Coming from an art history and visual background I took the wedding on as an "art project" making sure everything visually came together along with interesting historic appeal. I can't tell you how many hours, day’s week’s months of researching magazines, websites. One big thing that helped me in the long run was the fact that I am a part time wedding photographer. Seeing over 20 weddings last year I was able to see what was the "thing to do" things that worked and that didn't. And to figure out what I really wanted. I know I wanted simple, yet classic and I loved the early 20th century!

Using these outlets and creating a "collection of inspiration" will help with your "ideal wedding" I settled on a inspiration from my love of photography, my collection of old vintage photographs, the Roaring 20s, simple yet vintage - modern style, Art Nouveau and the artist Mucha. Keith and I wanted the event to be intimate, different, and classic with a vintage twist.

Meeting Keith
I met Keith through a mutual friend. He was a preppy guy and I was the artsy college student hanging out in the darkroom. Keith was different from other people I met and I fell for him. We knew each other for ten years and then decided to get married. There is no sappy story here. We both decided on it. Keith bought me an amazing art deco vintage engagement ring, after that the planning started.

Reception
West Sayville Country Club (In West Sayville NY). WSCC or called the "Meadowedge" has a distinct historical background as being the summer home to a daughter of a stockbroker in the 1909. There is a beautiful drive up to the estate and you feel like you are really entering into someone’s mansion. Our ceremony was in the back of the mansion under two oak trees facing Fire Island. When I walked in there I was so amazed by how beautiful and simple it looked, plus it was right up there with my vintage theme.

My Dress
Simple, classic, champagne colored. Vintage! An accident find at a boutique on Long Island. I have never seen anything else like it
Hair: Finger waves inspired from the roaring 20s
Colors: purples, greens, champagnes
Flowers: I wanted a gathered garden style look
Ceremony: simple civil ceremony with quotes by Ayn Rand & Margaret Atwood with a Celtic knot binding ceremony

The veil
I knew I didn't want a long traditional veil, as I am not traditional at all. I went with a French netting Birdcage Cage after I realized the look was just for me. I love the vintage look it created and I Love the fact that Dorene and I were able to work together to make my "dream veil". After the ceremony I did not want to take it off and wore it till about the end. I felt amazing in it! And the pictures are there to prove it!!

Photographers
Aaron Almendral & Farnaz K Bridal (to be added), Kimberly Hurst (Day after photos) http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimberlyhurst/sets/72157600284708457
They were the single most important decision to me. Being a wedding photographer helped me with my choice since I knew what to look for and looked at the techniques and styles of certain photographers.
