Jessica's wedding
 |
 |
John and I were married on May 3, 2008 in a beautiful country garden outside of Austin, Texas. We're both musicians, and we wanted the wedding to revolve around our love for songs of the past. The backbone of the event was our favorite music, which added to the romantic ambiance and fun-loving attitude of the day.

One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was our musician-friends performing three of our favorite songs: the bridal attendants walked down the aisle to Cat Stevens' Morning Has Broken, I walked down the aisle to Tony Rice's arrangement of Shenandoah, and we all recessed to Van Morrison's Warm Love. John and I are so thankful for our friends' gift of music.

The wedding was built around the old saying "everything old is new again". My bridesmaids each represented a different decade with cobalt blue silk skirts designed according to their favorite era. I knew I needed a fabulous birdcage to complete my 1930's vintage-replica ensemble, and Dorene created the perfect look.

John and the groomsmen wore ivory suits. We traded the groomsmen's vests for ivory suspenders, which were adorable. Each of the guys wore a different cobalt blue tie that John picked based on their personalities. They looked so good, especially next to the gorgeous bridesmaids.

At the reception, everyone danced to great tunes from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and of course the 70s. There was even a conga line to the original Rose Royce "Car Wash". John and I danced our first dance to T.V. Carpio's rendition of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles, and John surprised me by lifting me high above his head at the end of the song.

The wedding was warm, exciting, and beautiful. It couldn't have gone any better! We are so thankful, and we feel truly blessed. If I could offer any advice to newly engaged couples: Stay true to what you love! Create event that you and your partner will love to think about for years to come. I promise that your guests will have a great time celebrating at a wedding that fits the couple.
Warm Love,
Jessica Noel
